It’s a very, very, very simple, almost minimal app.If you want, you can ignore them selectively or you can choose which specific copy you want to keep. When the scanning process is done, you are presented with a grouped list of all the duplicate files that have been found.Once logged in, the access tokens are stored securely on your device and you won’t have to go through the hassle of logging in again to a service until you decide to log out first. You explicitly give to the app the required permissions to read (for scanning) and write (for deleting) your files. Except for MEGA, that is its own beast, you will go through a standard login procedure (using OAuth): the app opens an integrated browser and you enter your account details. The app doesn’t need you to create its own account, you just have to log in to the account of the cloud service you want to use.You can choose to scan the whole drive or select one or more specific folders. This app doesn’t detect similar (non-identical) pictures and it won’t be able to do that until cloud services introduce new APIs that allow that.Important: the comparison between the files is based on their “hash”, so we’re talking about finding identical files, no matter their type.“How fast”? Well, I have more than 100.000 pictures on OneDrive and it takes 5 minutes to scan them. It’s fast because it calls the APIs of the cloud services, retrieving useful information about the files but not the file itself. They’re not annoying but if you want to get rid of them there’s an in-app purchase that removes them forever. The ads are shown during the scanning process. You can find more detailed info following the links above, but here’s some worth mentioning points: I also don’t love the idea of giving sensitive access privileges to my account(s) to a website/app that I never heard about before, but hey, that comes with the territory. Nothing I found was able to check all these boxes. Not a bloated website or a software that needs to be installed on my computer. ![]() Ideally, I would have like to do all this on a mobile app that I could run quickly on my phone. Most importantly: the app must not download the files in order to compare them.(I’m aware that I’m an inconsistent fool because our privacy is already compromised by every little thing we do on the Internet, but still…) I wanted an app that is explicitly guaranteed to not collect any personal data, access token or whatever on a third-party server my device has to connect directly to the cloud provider. ![]() That’s just a demo (and a waste of time if you already installed it because there was a slightly misleading “free download” button).
